Vlc For Macbook M1

Devices and Mac OS X version

VLC is updated for Macs with M1, but its implementation is again as problematic as Chrome or Edge. VLC, the most popular media player for any platform, has finally been updated to be compatible with Macs with M1, and done, like many other applications, without changing anything aesthetically. Jan 19, 2021 The Apple M1 chips are extremely energy-efficient, given the huge efficiency gains from a 5nm fabrication process. A native VLC player will also mean that power usage will drop considerably once you update the app and play content while your MacBook is off the charger. Any news on new MacBook M1 version? Conversely - I’m curious if anyone who’s bought any of the 3 M1 Macs has had any issues using VLC through Rosetta 2. The sound mutes for 1 second in every 3 seconds' playback for some videos. Most of them work well though.

Macs

VLC media player requires Mac OS X 10.7.5 or later. It runs on any Mac with a 64-bit Intel processor or an Apple Silicon chip. Previous devices are supported by older releases.
Note that the first generation of Intel-based Macs equipped with Core Solo or Core Duo processors is no longer supported. Please use version 2.0.10 linked below.

If you need help in finding the correct package matching your Mac's processor architecture, please see this official support document by Apple. You can also choose to install a Universal Binary.

Web browser plugin for Mac OS X

Support for NPAPI plugins was removed from all modern web browsers, so VLC's plugin is no longer maintained. The last version is 3.0.4 and can be found here. It will not receive any further updates.
